Other major dance forms

Other major dance forms include Chakyarkoothu, a solo performance by the Chakyar as jester and social commentator; Nangiarkoothu, an offshoot of Koodiyattam is performed by Nangair or Nambiar women; Padayani, a folk ritual of southern Kerala symbolising the victory march of Goddess Bhadrakali and Mudiyettu, another ritual dance associated with Goddess Bhadrakali.

With numerous dance forms encouraged by traditional communities and kings, Kerala is a veritable storehouse of various arts. This abiding love for dance forms is best amplified by the Kerala Kalamandalam, a university for the arts, established by the poet Vallthol and located at Cheruthruty.

At Greenix, all our performers are masters in their dance form and are mostly from traditional dance performing communities. This provides a much needed support to the conservation and preservation of these beautiful art forms.
